John’s career has spanned over 50 years as an award winning architect and planner.
John holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Florida (1970). He began his career with the West Palm Beach firms of Schwab & Twitty and Ginocchio & Spina before opening his own office in 1973 in Palm Beach, Florida.
In 1976, John partnered with Ed Oliver to form Oliver and Glidden Architects in West Palm Beach Florida. The firm grew to a staff of 25 and added partners becoming Oliver Glidden & Partners. It eventually became Oliver, Glidden, Spina & Partners. Upon the retirement of Ed Oliver, the firm became Glidden Spina and Partners.
A recognized leader in design and development, John’s firm was consistently ranked among the top 20 firms in the state of Florida. John steered this dynamic, creative, client focused firm until his retirement in 2016.
His unique designs have earned John numerous awards throughout the years.
Throughout his career, John has been very involved in his community. He served as a Director of the South Florida Science Museum and as a long time member of the Planning and Zoning Board of Palm Beach Gardens. He was a recipient of the Palm Beach County AIA Community Involvement Award. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University.
John continues to provide his architectural talents to various charitable organizations in South Florida and Durango, Colorado.
